The history of road:
Road is the earliest and the most primitive tool for communication among humans. The professionals of this field always called road as vital vessels. It means that like the necessity of vessels to transport blood to functioning of heart, roads are essential to transport humans.
Having so many roads which are secure, and elongated across a country guarantees economical, cultural, social and political life of people in that country and causes growth of it. On this basis it is said that by establishment of a road in a place, economy, culture and other things will be transformed. Establishment of roads in the world has a history around 3000 years.
The earliest roads had military and political applications. In Iran, a main road was constructed around 500 B.A. at the time of Hakhamaneshian reign which had around 2500km. it began from Takht e Jamshid and Sard and it ended in Turkey and it was built for military usage. Other historical road is Abrisham Road which has 10000km length and it was constructed around 100 B.A. it began in China and then after crossing from China, Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey, it ended in Azmir Port.
Background of Road and Transportation Ministry:
In 11th of Farvardin in 1301, a general office under title of “general office of roads and alleys” was established in the collection of Public interest Ministry and it had a mission to construct and maintenance of country’s roads. In 27th of Esfand in 1308, and based on the Act enacted by national council assembly, this ministry established independently. Before 1304 (hejri shamsi), the credit needed for road-construction operation was supplied by means of taking cross-fee in ground roads. From this year getting this fee was abandoned and it was decided that a tax’s road taken from export-import. In 1305, a program named suggestive project of roads’ structure was established by general office of Roads and it was decided that during 9 months and by credit about 45 million Toman, the construction of 17021km of grad 1,2,3 roads performs and this project was the first project of roads in Iran. At present, the Ministry of Road and Transportation has the responsibility of maintenance around 170000km of highways, main roads and rural roads by means of 3 offices and 29 general offices of roads and transportation in the province.
The history of general office of roads and transportation of Golestan province:
Golestan province has an area more than 22000km2 and population of 1700000 people. It has been located in eastern north of Iran. This province was a part of Mazandaran province until 1376 and then it was separated and became independent as Golestan province with center of Gorgan city and began a new period of its activities. Road and Transportation’s general office of Golestan province began its activity from 1308 under name of public roads office of Gorgan city. Its manager was Memar Ansari and its activity was establishment of roads and their maintenance. This office changed its name several times until 1361 and finally it was named formally as Road and Transportation’s general office of Gorgan and in 1376 its name was changed to Road and Transportation’s general office of Golestan province. Until 1381, Road and Transportation’s general office had duty for maintenance of main and branch roads and from this year, by adding rural roads of Agricultural Ministry, the responsibility of their maintenance was added and finally in 1382 boundary roads also were added to the scope of responsibility of this office. This office has 77 years history and it witnessed 30 managers who serviced in the form of chief, supervisor and general managers, whose list is as the following.
